Founded in 2001 by director Mindy Mallet, Sunrise Sanctuary, Inc. is a private 16-acre animal rescue and sanctuary located in Marysville, just west of Dublin, OH.

We are a private non-profit charity (IRS # 20-65462) who relies on your donations for everything we do to care for the animals.

Sunrise provides a safe haven for over 80 abused, neglected, disabled and otherwise unwanted animals to live out the balance of their natural lives in a natural small farm setting.

This is a permanent shelter for the animals providing kindness, knowledgeable care, and respect.

All of our animals are rescues. Since we are a sanctuary, all animals regardless of background or disability, will live out their lives in peace, with your help.

Columbus Signature Gathering Kick-Off

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Please join Nathan Runkle, Executive Director of Mercy For Animals, and Ohioans for Humane Farms at the Columbus Signature Gathering Kick-Off event to hear how YOU can get involved in this important campaign!

Ohioans for Humane Farms is spearheading a new, citizen-backed ballot initiative to prevent some of the cruelest factory farming practices in Ohio. The measure will require the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board to adopt certain minimum standards that will prevent animal cruelty, improve health and food safety, support family farms and safeguard the environment throughout the state of Ohio.

With more than 600,000 signatures needed to get on the ballot, we need the help of a lot of volunteers. While our opposition will have big money contributors and plenty of paid field staff, we're going to rely on you—our supporters—to help us get there.

For more information and to RSVP, please visit Ohioans For Humane Farms.

Where: Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Court, Hilliard
When: 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

There is legislation in the works to protect farm animals in Ohio.  Get involved to make it pass!

What is the difference between the treatment of animals at Sunrise Sanctuary

and their treatment at modern C.AF.O.'$?

(Confined Animal Feeding Operations)

Unlike modern factory farms,
Sunrise Sanctuary animals are free to:

bask in the warm sun,

shelter themselves in the barns,

have sunlight,

freedom to move,

healthy food and water provided daily,

roost in barns,

exercise freely,

and socialize in an abuse-free natural setting.

At Sunrise, animals live out their natural lives with proper veterinary care, respect and love.
Unfortunately, the days of the old style farm are long gone, to make way for massive inhumane "factory farms"
and the notable environmental impacts they have on people, animals and vegetation.

Did you know each animal has a personality?

Come visit!  You will love it...
